The most positive change I have gotten from the past ten years of technology is certainly my cell phone. Nobody I knew had a cell phone ten years ago, and I would guess that quite a few ten year olds have them now. Ten year olds having cell phones is certainly not a positive thing, but my cell phone has helped me greatly in the recent years I have had it. It has gotten me out of many unfortunate situations, as well as assisted me in creating great situations.
The most negative thing technology has done for me over the past ten years is the ability to rip tv shows off the web. I have wasted countless hours online watching Weeds, Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, etc. etc. instead of doing necessary homework assignments.
Oh well.
Both my cell phone and online TV have positive and negative aspects, but one thing is for sure: technology has made my life much more effortless than it would have been ten years ago. If I am bored I have endless possibilities online. If I feel the need to have a friend over, I can simply call them and tell them to come over. I do not think, however, that a life lacking as much effort is necessarily a positive or negative attribute to technology. It's just how it is.
